So far this week the cardinals have played both days. The first day they played the Phillies. In the first game they won 10 to 3. In the ten to three win they had a total of five homeruns. Wainwright, Adams, Diaz, Wong, and Grichuk all hit homeruns. Out of the five, Grichuk had the farthest at 439 feet. Yesterday, they played the Phillies again. The outcome although came out a little different. The phillies beat the Cards one to nothing with a solo homerun by Howard. In the bottom of the ninth we had a runner on first but could not get him past there and got three outs.

Jhonnhy Peralta who has been out with thumb injury is expecting to start baseball activities soon. He is looking to start baseball early next week. Peralta was out with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Having him back will be a good for the Cardinals. Diaz is not been playing the greatest defensively. He has made multiple errors. Peralta is a solid infielder and will make a impact on the game for the ell he cards. With him the game it will make our defense better. Although, Diaz has been hitting well he needs to focus on his fielding and get solid fundamentals. If his fielding fundamentals were better he could be a good shortstop.

This week the Cardinals have played the Brewers. They have played two game and have each won one. In the first game the Cardinals dominated the Brewers ten to one. In the second game, the Brewers pulled out a win 6-4 with a home run in the top of the ninth. To finish the series the Cardinals play tonight against the brewers to see who will win. Pitching for the Cards tonight is Jaime Garcia who is a good solid pitcher. For the Brewers is Wily Peralta who is 0-2 and has an ERA of 10.8 runs. Hopefully with the Cards having home field advantage and coming off the loss will spark up a win to finish the series. After this series we play the reds which hopefully will be a clean sweep for us. Chris Sheeran has been talking crap he needs to be shut up.

So far the Cardinals have not been off to a good start. They were swept by the pirates in the first three games of their season. Only one game was by one run. They should have one that game but made an error on a double play which lead to the game tying and eventually losing by one in extra innings. This is where it shows that the little things can mean the most. If they would have turned the double play then they would have got out of the inning up two. Now that the series is over all you can do is look forward and forget about the losses. Right now they are playing the braves and it is tied in the third with no outs. Hopefully they can pull out a win. If not I will still be okay knowing the cubs lost Kyle Schwarber with a torn ACL for the rest of the season.

This week for high school baseball were suppose to have six games in six days. To start the week we played Westvillle. Westville was suppose to be a tough competitor but came out to be easier than expected. We beat Westville 16-4 in five innings. Tuesday we played the Marshall Lions who were suppose to be one of the easier game of the year turned out to be the first full game we have played all year. The Lions were not the best team that we have played but it is also the worst game that the tigers have played. We ended up winning against the Lions 10-6. So far in our four games we have outscored our opponents 62-10. Wednesday we had the day off and Thursday (today) our game against Oblong was cancelled because of weather issues. Tomorrow we have a home game against Cumberland and then Saturday we have a double header against Tri-County which hopefully will be a easier game we can win both of.

This week the Paris baseball team has two baseball games. Yesterday we played Danville schlarman. They were not that good of a team but they did try hard. In the first inning Paris batted all the way through the lineup and then the top three got out giving us a good lead. The next inning we went all the way through the order again and added to lead. Brady sutton in the second inning hit a inside the park home run giving him four RIB's. Going into the third inning Danville was still scoreless. Paris in the third inning was up by around twenty. In the third inning Brady was up again with bases loaded and us being up by twenty two.
Brady gets up there and hit a grand slam out of the park. The kid chasing the ball hit the fence and dropped and that is how the game ended.

The Saint Louis Cardinals this spring are off to a 5-4 record. So far the Cards have lost to the Astros, the Nationals, Marlins, and the Mets. I am not worried about any of those teams above I would be fine if we lose to all of them. The one team that I am really worried about is the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are going to be a good competition this year. It also will not help the Cardinals that their starting shortstop Johnny Peralta. They are predicting that Peralta will be out 2-3 months with a thumb injury. Most people do not realize how big of an impact he is. He is a very solid fielder and also is a decent hitter that we could rely on most of the time.

Yesterday on March 3, 2016 the Cardinals had their first preseason game against the Florida Marlins. For the Cardinals had Tyler Lyons on the mound. He pitched a total of three innings and allowed only one run. On the mound he threw a total of 41 pitches and only allowed 3 hits. For the Marlins, Koehler was on the mound. Koehler is expected to be the Marlins number three starter this year. In the one and 2/3 innings that he had pitched he gave up three runs. Two of which were earned. The cardinals won the game four to three. They play again today against the Astros looking to get another preseason win!

One big question that has been roaming the internet over the past month or two is who will replace Yadier Molina in the long run? This question continues to grow more and more popular with his age increasing, him undergoing thumb surgery, and also having a child. All three play a rather large role in his career. If his thumb surgery take a long time to recover from or something goes wrong during it could take a major toll on his career. The Cardinals have not really been on the search to replace him because in reality it will be very hard to find someone who can do what Yadi does behind the plate. In my opinion, Yadi is by far the best choice to be behind the plate. He is very reliable and has a cannon for a arm. Last season Yadi threw out 47.9% of runners or 35 of 73 runners which does not sound good but when it comes to the stat it is a very good one to have. There is not a lot of people who are brave enough to run on him. After Yadi's thumb surgery he should be able to get back at it and become even better than he is. I do not think that the Cardinals need to worry about replacing Yadi any time soon he is a great and will go down as a Hall of Famer.

While looking over the Cardinals starting pitchers this year it safe to say that we have a very good rotation. The question is will they be able to make use of it against the Cubs? While the Cardinals have Adam Wainwright, Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha, Mike Leake, and Jaime Garcia which is a very solid rotation. The Cubs have Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jason Hammel and Kyle Hendricks. Last year though the Cardinals had a better Earned run average with only 2.82 runs per game while the Cubs gave up 3.38. 1.1 run does not sound like a lot but in the long run, one run can make a difference. One thing that both teams are both very close on would be strike outs while the Cards have a percentage of 22.6, the Cubs have slid past with a average of 23.7%. One stat that worries me with the Cardinals is the innings pitched. The Cardinals starters do not seem to make it as far in the games as the Cubs. the cardinals have 485, while the cubs have 514.2 which is quite a bit more.

So far this year the Cards have been discussing who should be their leadoff hitter. Normally Matt Carpenter is the lead off hitter. But since last year Matt had lead the team in total homeruns they are having a discussion on who should be the new leadoff or if he should stay. To me, if they move Matt down in the order I feel that Kolten Wong should take his spot. He might not have the highest on base percentage on the team, but he is fast. With him having the speed he does I would put him in the top. You could use his speed to get around the bases fast as Matt Carpenter hits him around. It would also help if the Cards picked up a solid power hitter. With a power hitter behind Carpenter and Wong you could adding a few runs per game easy. With a few more runs that could turn a lot of games that were losses into wins.

St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals are my favorite baseball team. They have been my favorite team since I was a young little lad. Right now they are making me rather aggravated. They are starting to lose half of last years team and some of our better players. What makes it worse is that the players are decided to go to the cubs of all places. The Chicago Cubs are the absolute worst team in the MLB I hate them with a burning passion. It makes it worse now that they have one of our pitcher and an outfielder, I lost respect for both of them. St. Louis really needs to stop giving the Cubs our better players before we are in a hole and start playing like the Cubs before last year. I really like St. Louis but really do not want to have to deal with the Cubs being better than us. The Cardinals need to step it up.
