While looking over the Cardinals starting pitchers this year it safe to say that we have a very good rotation. The question is will they be able to make use of it against the Cubs? While the Cardinals have Adam Wainwright, Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha, Mike Leake, and Jaime Garcia which is a very solid rotation. The Cubs have Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jason Hammel and Kyle Hendricks. Last year though the Cardinals had a better Earned run average with only 2.82 runs per game while the Cubs gave up 3.38. 1.1 run does not sound like a lot but in the long run, one run can make a difference. One thing that both teams are both very close on would be strike outs while the Cards have a percentage of 22.6, the Cubs have slid past with a average of 23.7%. One stat that worries me with the Cardinals is the innings pitched. The Cardinals starters do not seem to make it as far in the games as the Cubs. the cardinals have 485, while the cubs have 514.2 which is quite a bit more.
